Experts say the urgency of this partnership stems from shared challenges such as erratic weather patterns, water scarcity, and the need for affordable, scalable farming innovations. The collaboration is being seen as a long-term investment in South-South cooperation, with both regions leveraging their complementarities in land, labour, knowledge, and climate adaptation strategies. India’s experience in smallholder farming and community-led agricultural models is offering a practical blueprint for African nations looking to scale sustainable practices. As the partnership grows, policymakers from both sides are also calling for enhanced trade in agricultural commodities, easier movement of agri-tech, and co-financing for green rural infrastructure.
