IFFCO Set to Launch Nano Urea Plus with Higher Nitrogen

India’s leading cooperative enterprise, IFFCO, is set to unveil a ground-breaking iteration of nano urea with heightened nitrogen content. This development comes in response to a recent amendment in government specifications, signalling a significant shift in crop nutrient standards.

The Union government, through a notification issued on April 16, has revised the specifications for nano urea, mandating a minimum nitrogen content of 16 percent by weight. This adjustment marks a notable increase from the previous specification, which ranged between 1 and 5 percent. With these enhanced standards in place, IFFCO is gearing up to introduce its latest innovation, Nano Urea Plus (liquid), aligning with the government’s directives. Scheduled for launch ahead of the upcoming kharif season, the production of Nano Urea Plus is slated to commence within the next 7-10 days at IFFCO’s existing facilities. This move underscores the organisation’s commitment to agricultural advancement and sustainable farming practices. The decision to revise nano urea specifications stems from concerns raised by experts regarding its efficacy, particularly in comparison to conventional urea. With the conventional granular urea boasting a nitrogen content of 46 percent, the earlier iteration of nano urea, with significantly lower nitrogen levels, faced scepticism among farmers in regions such as Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh. However, the impending launch of Nano Urea Plus, featuring substantially higher nitrogen content, is poised to address these concerns and potentially yield promising results in crop productivity.

As IFFCO prepares to roll out its enhanced nano urea product, market analysts anticipate a positive reception among farmers, bolstered by the organisation’s track record of innovation and commitment to agricultural excellence. Moreover, despite the heightened nitrogen content in Nano Urea Plus, sources suggest that the selling price is expected to remain consistent with the previous iteration, maintaining accessibility and affordability for farmers across the country. With agricultural demand and innovation intersecting to drive sectoral growth, IFFCO’s pioneering efforts in nano urea development represent a significant stride towards sustainable farming practices and enhanced crop yields in India’s agricultural landscape.
