Hyderabads Gachibowli Third-Level Flyover to Open in June 2025

Hyderabad is set to inaugurate its first-ever third-level flyover at Gachibowli in the first week of June 2025.

This 1.2-kilometre-long, six-lane flyover, constructed at a cost of ₹178 crore, aims to alleviate traffic congestion at the busy Gachibowli junction, a critical node connecting the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to Kondapur. The flyover is a significant addition to the city’s Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), marking the 23rd flyover and the 37th completed project under this ambitious initiative. The third-level flyover is designed to span 24 metres in width and will arch gracefully over the existing first and second-level flyovers located in Shilpa Layout. This innovative design is expected to streamline traffic flow, reduce travel time, and enhance connectivity between key areas such as Hitech City, Kondapur, Hafeezpet, and the Financial District.

Additionally, the improved infrastructure is anticipated to facilitate smoother access to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, benefiting both daily commuters and travellers. The SRDP, launched by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), aims to address the city’s growing traffic demands and urban mobility challenges. The completion of this flyover underscores the government’s commitment to modernising urban infrastructure and promoting sustainable development. However, the project has not been without its challenges. Financial constraints have previously impacted the pace of flyover constructions under the SRDP. Despite these hurdles, the Gachibowli third-level flyover stands as a testament to the city’s resilience and dedication to enhancing urban mobility.

Looking ahead, the GHMC is focusing on further infrastructure developments to improve regional transportation networks. Commissioner R.V. Karnan has urged the South Central Railway to expedite the completion of overbridge construction works at Shastripuram and Falaknuma within the next three months. These overbridges are crucial to further enhancing the regional transportation network and alleviating traffic bottlenecks. The inauguration of the Gachibowli third-level flyover marks a significant milestone in Hyderabad’s urban development journey. It reflects the city’s proactive approach to addressing transportation challenges and its commitment to creating a more connected and efficient urban environment.
