In a decisive move to address growing traffic congestion, the Hyderabad traffic police launched a comprehensive drive under Operation ROPE (Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments) to clear road encroachments on the busy Shaikpet-Tolichowki stretch. The operation, closely monitored by the Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, aimed to restore order to a critical arterial road plagued by bottlenecks caused by illegal structures and obstructive parking. Using earth movers and trucks, authorities removed encroachments on either side of the stretch, marking a significant step towards easing vehicular movement in the area.
The commissioner emphasised the urgency of collective responsibility to tackle the issue, calling for cooperation from citizens and public representatives. “Encroachments disrupt traffic flow and inconvenience commuters. It’s imperative that all stakeholders collaborate to improve urban mobility,” he stated. The police also issued a stern warning to individuals parking vehicles obstructively, with measures such as towing and tyre clamps to be enforced stringently.
This operation comes alongside a broader crackdown by city police, including the seizure of over 1,500 illegal sirens and beacons in recent days.
