Hyderabad To Lead Energy Efficiency Drive As ADEETIE Scheme Launches For Small Businesses Tomorrow
Hyderabad is poised for a transformative initiative to enhance industrial efficiency, with the Union Ministry of Power, through the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), launching the ADEETIE scheme for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) tomorrow, July 15. This program will promote energy-efficient technologies, signaling a crucial step in supporting industrial competitiveness, reducing operational costs, and advancing India’s ambitious climate objectives. The city’s role in this initiative highlights its commitment to fostering greener and more resilient economic growth at the grassroots level.
The ADEETIE scheme offers comprehensive support to MSMEs, providing technical assistance, including Investment Grade Energy Audits, and interest subsidies on loans. Micro and small enterprises can receive a 5% interest subvention, while medium enterprises are eligible for 3%, on loans ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹15 crore. Projects must demonstrate a minimum of 10% energy savings to qualify for this scheme, which is set to run for three years. This multi-faceted approach is designed to help industries significantly cut energy costs and boost overall productivity.
A key objective of the initiative is to enable MSMEs to directly contribute to India’s commitment under the Paris Agreement to reduce its GDP emissions intensity by 45% by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by 2070. The launch event will feature several important activities, including the inauguration of the dedicated ADEETIE web portal and the release of the official scheme brochure. Agreements will also be signed between the Bureau of Energy Efficiency and major MSME industrial associations to facilitate broader implementation across various energy-intensive industrial clusters nationwide. Dignitaries, including a Union Minister and senior officials from relevant ministries, are slated to attend this pivotal moment in India’s industrial energy transformation.
This scheme marks a pivotal moment for sustainable industrial development, promoting eco-friendly practices within a vital economic sector. By boosting energy efficiency, it directly contributes to climate goals and equitable economic growth. It ensures that small businesses can thrive while contributing to a greener, more resilient national economy.
