The Hyderabad International Convention Centre, served as a pivotal platform for advancing India’s industrial sustainability agenda. Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) GreenCo Council, the summit convened over 1,000 delegates, including policymakers, industry leaders, and sustainability experts, under the theme “Beyond Commitments: Scaling Net Zero Action for 2030 and Beyond.”
The summit underscored the urgent need for industries to transition from mere climate pledges to actionable, measurable outcomes. Pradeep Bhargava, Chairman of the GreenCo Summit 2025 and the CII GreenCo Council, highlighted that over 1,500 companies have adopted the GreenCo framework, collectively realising monetary benefits exceeding ₹5,100 crore through green initiatives. This reflects a growing recognition that sustainability is integral to long-term business viability. In his inaugural address, Shri Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Telangana’s Minister for IT, Industries, and Commerce, emphasised the state’s commitment to fostering a green industrial ecosystem. He urged the Pollution Control Board and the CII Green Business Centre to collaborate more closely to encourage companies to pursue GreenCo ratings, thereby accelerating cleantech adoption and resource efficiency. Minister Babu’s remarks reinforced Telangana’s role as a leader in India’s green transformation.
The summit featured over 100 speakers who delved into critical topics such as decarbonisation pathways, circular economy practices, ESG integration, and the role of AI in sustainability. Discussions centred on practical strategies for achieving net-zero emissions, with a focus on sectors like manufacturing, energy, and transportation. The event also highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability into business operations to build resilience and enhance competitiveness. A notable highlight was the launch of the Cleantech Innovation Programme, aimed at supporting startups and enterprises pioneering sustainable technologies. This initiative seeks to foster innovation in areas such as low-carbon transport, smart energy systems, and circular resource management, aligning with India’s broader climate goals.
The summit also recognised over 60 companies with the prestigious GreenCo Rating Platinum Awards for excellence in environmental performance, energy efficiency, and green manufacturing practices. These accolades serve as benchmarks for other organisations striving to integrate sustainability into their operations. As India accelerates its journey towards a net-zero economy, events like the GreenCo Summit 2025 play a crucial role in fostering dialogue, sharing best practices, and driving collective action. The summit’s emphasis on collaboration between industry, government, and innovators reflects a unified approach to addressing climate challenges and achieving sustainable growth.
