In a bid to propel infrastructure development and bolster tourism prospects, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing road projects within the state. The assessment encompassed four-lane initiatives and road constructions overseen by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the Ministry of Surface Transport, and the State Public Works Department.
During the review session, Chief Minister Sukhu issued clear directives to accelerate project timelines while upholding uncompromising standards of construction quality. Emphasizing the critical role of efficient road networks in facilitating seamless travel experiences for commuters, Sukhu particularly highlighted the imperative of transforming the Shimla-Matour and Mandi-Pathankot roads into four-lane thoroughfares. This transformation, he asserted, would significantly augment tourism activities in Kangra district, earmarked as the state’s tourism capital.
Aesthetic enhancements were also underscored as integral components of road development initiatives, with a specific focus on constructing tunnels to minimize disruptive hillside interventions. Notably, construction works for the Shimla-Nauni road segment are slated to commence post-monsoon, with an ambitious completion target set for September 2026.
Furthermore, Sukhu underscored the pivotal role of infrastructure in fostering industrial growth, urging the expedited completion of the Pinjore-Nalagarh-Baddi four-lane project to cater to the needs of burgeoning industries in these regions. The ambitious target entails the project’s completion by the end of 2025.
In addition to these flagship initiatives, the Chief Minister meticulously reviewed the progress of various other road projects, including the Shimla bypass project, the Shimla-Solan four-lane project, and the widening and strengthening efforts along the Mandi-Hamirpur and Paonta-Shillai roads. Each of these projects plays a crucial role in enhancing connectivity, promoting economic growth, and improving overall infrastructure resilience across Himachal Pradesh.
With an unwavering commitment to expeditious project execution and uncompromising quality standards, the Himachal Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s leadership, remains steadfast in its pursuit of sustainable development and inclusive growth for the state.
