Haryana to welcome 1.2 GWh BESS plant by Prostarm Info Systems in Jhajjar
Haryana is set to become a new hub for battery energy storage following Prostarm Info Systems’ announcement to establish a 1.2 GWh Battery Energy Storage System manufacturing facility at Reliance MET City in Jhajjar. The Mumbai-based company has secured a nine-year lease on a 3,912-square-metre plot, including a 34,000-square-foot covered area, and plans a total investment of ₹25 crore. The plant, expected to be commissioned by the end of the 2026 financial year, will serve both commercial and industrial as well as utility-scale applications.
Prostarm’s CEO and Whole Time Director Ram Agarwal said the plant represents a strategic entry into India’s fast-growing BESS sector. Prostarm has already secured a 22 MWh order from Adani Electricity Mumbai worth approximately ₹52 crore and received a Letter of Intent from Bihar State Power Generation Company for a 120 MWh standalone battery energy storage system under the BOOT model. The project is expected to enhance revenue opportunities and strengthen domestic OEM capabilities.
Real-world market intelligence suggests India’s BESS market could expand to 66 GW by 2032, helping avoid over 2,000 million tonnes of CO₂. The planned addition of more than 44 GW of BESS capacity by 2030 underscores the urgency of energy storage solutions to balance renewable energy and ensure grid stability.
