Hafele India Highlights Smart Interior Fittings At Indiawood
Interior hardware and architectural fittings manufacturer Häfele India used the INDIAWOOD 2026 trade exhibition to present a new generation of intelligent interior systems aimed at improving functionality and spatial efficiency in modern homes and buildings.
The company’s showcase at the Bengaluru event focused on hardware, fittings and engineered surfaces designed to help architects and furniture manufacturers optimise interior layouts in increasingly compact urban homes. Industry experts say such technologies are becoming central to residential and commercial interiors as cities move toward smaller living spaces and multifunctional design.Among the solutions presented were advanced cabinet fittings and furniture connectors intended to simplify modular furniture construction while maintaining clean, minimalist aesthetics. One highlight included a slim-profile flap fitting system engineered for overhead cabinets and storage units. With an installation width of just a few millimetres, the mechanism allows cabinets to open smoothly while occupying minimal internal space, making it suitable for kitchens, wardrobes and wall-mounted storage units. The company also introduced a multi-purpose furniture connector system designed to enable different joint configurations within modular furniture structures. According to industry engineers, such systems reduce the number of hardware components required in furniture production while offering flexibility for designers to create varied layouts across residential interiors.
Alongside hardware solutions, the exhibition marked the introduction of new engineered interior surfaces targeted at kitchen counters, tabletops and wall cladding. These surfaces combine mineral-based materials with recycled inputs and reduced silica content, reflecting the broader industry push toward safer fabrication processes and more environmentally responsible materials. The innovations were displayed within a concept booth designed to simulate real-life home settings, allowing visitors to see how fittings, surfaces and lighting systems integrate within complete interior environments. Demonstrations illustrated how storage hardware, surface materials and lighting can be combined to create adaptable living spaces that respond to changing household needs. The product showcase took place at INDIAWOOD 2026, one of Asia’s largest exhibitions dedicated to woodworking technology and furniture manufacturing. The event brings together global suppliers of machinery, components and materials that shape the furniture and interior design industry.
For India’s rapidly expanding housing sector, interior fittings and modular furniture systems are becoming increasingly important. As urban homes become more compact, designers are prioritising storage optimisation, flexible layouts and durable materials that can support long-term use.Architects and interior designers attending the exhibition noted that hardware innovations—often invisible within finished interiors—play a critical role in determining how efficiently homes function. Smooth-opening cabinet systems, concealed connectors and modular fittings allow furniture to remain visually minimal while improving usability.
As the country’s residential market continues to grow, interior hardware manufacturers are increasingly focusing on solutions that combine engineering precision with design flexibility. Industry observers believe such technologies will shape the next phase of interior architecture, where furniture, surfaces and fittings work together to maximise both space and functionality.
