The National Highway-352W, which promises to revolutionise travel and economic activity between Gurugram, Pataudi, and Rewari, is set to be completed by December 2025. The 45-kilometre stretch, which is crucial for enhancing regional connectivity, was initially scheduled for completion in March 2023 but has faced multiple delays.
These setbacks, stemming from a series of technical and legal challenges, have now been largely addressed, with the majority of the project already completed. The highway, currently under construction by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), will cost approximately Rs 1,000 crore upon completion. The project aims to significantly ease traffic congestion in the region while boosting connectivity between major urban centres and rural areas. As of now, 66 percent of the construction work has been completed, although challenges persist in finalising certain aspects of the project. At the heart of the delays is the relocation of high-tension electricity cables that run along the first six kilometres of the route. Managed by Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam and DDAL, these power lines have posed significant construction hurdles. In addition, one of these cables, belonging to the Bhakra Beas Management Board, is caught in a legal standoff at the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
This legal issue has delayed the relocation of the cable, impacting the overall project timeline. Further complicating matters, the construction of a rain drain near Sector-84 by the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) had to be demolished to make way for the service road. Delays in the demolition process, attributed to inaction by local authorities, have contributed to the project’s hold-up. Despite these obstacles, the project remains a vital link for commuters and businesses. The highway will incorporate 25 flyovers and underpasses, enhancing its utility and reducing traffic congestion. One of the most notable features will be the flyover connecting the highway to the Dwarka Expressway, ensuring smoother inter-urban movement. Additionally, a critical underpass is planned beneath the railway line in Pataudi, although it is still awaiting approval from the railway department before construction can commence.
