Gujarat PM Modi to Launch Projects Worth Rs 24000 Crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day visit to Gujarat on May 26 and 27, 2025, during which he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for development projects worth over Rs 24,000 crore. These initiatives span across the districts of Dahod, Bhuj, and Gandhinagar, focusing on sectors such as railways, water supply, urban development, and infrastructure.

Locomotive Manufacturing Facility in Dahod

A cornerstone of the visit is the inauguration of a state-of-the-art locomotive manufacturing facility at the Rolling Stock Workshop in Dahod. Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 21,405 crore, this facility marks a significant milestone in India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Make for World’ initiatives. The plant is designed to produce 9,000 horsepower electric locomotives, capable of hauling up to 4,600 tonnes of cargo at speeds up to 120 km/h. These high-performance locomotives are expected to enhance freight movement efficiency and contribute to the decongestion of saturated railway tracks. The project is anticipated to generate employment opportunities for approximately 10,000 individuals, fostering economic growth in the region.

Water Supply Initiatives for Rural Communities

In line with sustainable development goals, PM Modi will inaugurate four water supply schemes under the ‘Juth Sudharna Pani Purvatha Yojana’ in Mahisagar and Dahod districts. These projects, collectively valued at Rs 181 crore, aim to provide clean drinking water to 193 villages and one town, benefiting a population of over 4.6 lakh residents. Each scheme is designed to supply 100 litres per capita per day, ensuring equitable access to potable water in underserved rural areas.

Urban Development and Infrastructure Projects

The visit also includes the inauguration of several urban development initiatives in Dahod under the Smart City Mission, with a combined investment of Rs 233 crore. These projects encompass the construction of a new municipality building, a tribal museum, and the implementation of public welfare and civic amenities aimed at enhancing the quality of life for urban residents.

Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation for road infrastructure projects worth Rs 581 crore in Vadodara district. These projects include the four-laning of key roads such as Savli-Timba, Kayavarohan-Sadhli, and Jarod-Samlaya, along with the construction of a new bridge on the Padmala-Ranoli road. These developments are expected to improve connectivity and facilitate smoother transportation across the region.

Commitment to Sustainable and Inclusive Growth

Prime Minister Modi’s Gujarat visit underscores the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable and inclusive growth. The emphasis on ‘Make in India’ initiatives, coupled with investments in clean water supply and urban infrastructure, reflects a holistic approach to development that prioritizes environmental sustainability, economic empowerment, and social equity. By focusing on both rural and urban areas, these projects aim to bridge developmental gaps and promote balanced regional growth.

As Gujarat continues its trajectory towards modernization and self-reliance, the initiatives launched during PM Modi’s visit are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the state’s future, ensuring that progress is both inclusive and sustainable.
