Pune, June 26, 2024 – Goldleaf Entertainment, a prominent event organizer in Pune, is all set to host the inaugural edition of the Green Pune Monsoon Hill Marathon on July 14th, 2024, at the Sadu Shinde Cricket Ground. This pioneering event is endorsed by the Department of Environment & Climate Change and the Pollution Control Board, in collaboration with Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The initiative is also supported by the Belvalkar Group and the Eco Factory Foundation, serving as the sustainability partner.
Organizers have underscored that the Green Pune Monsoon Hill Marathon aims to be India’s first eco-friendly marathon with a commitment to a zero-plastic policy and achieving a net-zero carbon footprint throughout the event. This environmental focus aligns with global efforts towards sustainability, ensuring minimal ecological impact during the marathon.
Expressing gratitude for the support received, organizers highlighted the crucial backing from dignitaries including Chief Minister Shri. Eknath Shinde, Principal Secretary of the Department of Environment Mr. Pravin Darade (IAS), PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, PMRDA Commissioner Mr. Rahul Mahiwal, and PCMC Commissioner Mr. Shekhar Singh. Their endorsement has been instrumental in shaping the event’s framework and ensuring its success.
The marathon will feature multiple race categories catering to diverse participants, including a challenging 21 KM run, a 10 KM run, a 5 KM run, a 2 KM fun run, and a special category for participants aged 45 and above. The race routes traverse scenic locales starting from Sadu Shinde Cricket Ground, winding through Taljai Hills, Padmavati Parking, Treasure Park, Aranyeshwar Temple, Gajanan Maharaj Chowk, and concluding back at Sadu Shinde Cricket Ground.
Participants competing in the 21 KM category stand to win significant accolades, with cash prizes amounting to Rs. 11,000 for the winners and Rs. 7,000 for the runners-up. Similarly, winners in the 10 KM and 5 KM categories will be awarded trophies and cash prizes, fostering competitive spirit and rewarding athletic excellence across various age groups.
