Greater Noida Airport Passengers To Pay 210 To 980 Rupees User Fee From Winter

The upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) in Greater Noida will charge passengers ₹210 to ₹980 as user development fees (UDF) from its anticipated commercial launch this winter. The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) recently issued an ad-hoc tariff to ensure smooth commencement of operations while regular tariffs are being finalised, signalling a major step in expanding aviation infrastructure in the National Capital Region (NCR).

For departing flights, AERA has set UDF at ₹490 for domestic and ₹980 for international passengers. Arrivals will incur ₹210 for domestic and ₹420 for international travellers, with taxes additional. The ad-hoc structure, significantly lower than the initial operator proposal, will remain valid until 31 March 2026 or until a permanent tariff order is issued. Officials highlighted that in the initial phase, over 94 per cent of passenger traffic will be domestic. Traffic projections suggest 57 lakh domestic passengers and 2.4 lakh international flyers this fiscal, with expectations to reach 1.7 crore domestic and 10 lakh international passengers by FY2030. The airport is designed to eventually handle up to 7 crore passengers annually in a phased expansion, with additional terminals and runways planned as capacity utilisation reaches 80 per cent.

To support operations, the airport is investing in state-of-the-art facilities including smart ticketing, crew training, and a network of charging and maintenance infrastructure. The capital expenditure for the first phase stands at ₹7,209 crore, reflecting a commitment to high-capacity, sustainable infrastructure. Government and industry officials noted that NIA will complement Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), serving as a secondary hub for NCR cities including Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Mathura, and Agra. It will also facilitate access to pilgrim and tourist destinations, reducing pressure on IGIA, which handled 7.8 crore passengers in 2024 with a capacity of 10 crore.

AERA emphasised that, as a greenfield airport, NIA currently has no precedent tariff rates. The ad-hoc order bridges the regulatory gap, enabling operational commencement while a detailed review of capital expenditure and long-term tariff proposals is conducted, ensuring transparency and fairness to both passengers and operators. Experts said the initiative reflects India’s broader push towards sustainable and high-capacity aviation infrastructure, supporting regional mobility, economic growth, and equitable access while meeting environmental standards.
