The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) has planned to construct four new jetties along the ghats of Ganga for operation of water taxis in the city. To develop a multimodal terminal in the city, the Authority has reviewed the land acquisition process. As per the Land Acquisition Act 1894, the remaining land needs to be acquired.
A review meeting was held, which was attended by officials from IWAI, NHAI, PWD, and revenue departments. They discussed the acquisition of the remaining land in a well-planned manner, with demarcation for acquisition verified by on-site inspection by all concerned departments. The proposals for land acquisition will be sent to the government by these departments.
The development of water taxi infrastructure will be a significant boost for tourism in the city. The new jetties will facilitate water taxis to operate along the ghats of Ganga. It will provide an efficient and eco-friendly mode of transportation, reducing congestion on the city’s roads. The development of a multimodal terminal will further enhance the transportation system and promote the city’s connectivity with other parts of the country.
The land acquisition process will play a crucial role in the timely completion of the project. The government’s support and coordination of concerned departments will be vital to ensure efficient land acquisition. The development of water taxi infrastructure will boost tourism and promote sustainable transportation in the city.
