In a move designed to bolster regional air connectivity within Madhya Pradesh, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has unveiled a development plan for Guna and Shivpuri airports. This strategic initiative, earmarked under the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, signifies a Rs. 90 crore investment aimed at enhancing accessibility and fostering economic growth across the state.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will play a pivotal role in this project, providing critical Communications, Navigation, Surveillance (CNS)/Air Traffic Management (ATM) and Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) infrastructure and services for both airports. This ensures the implementation of robust safety protocols and streamlined air traffic management systems, paving the way for the smooth operation of commercial flights. The allocation of Rs. 45 crore to each airport underlines the government’s commitment to balanced development across Madhya Pradesh. By incorporating Guna and Shivpuri into the UDAN network, the Ministry aims to bridge the gap between Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, promoting tourism, business travel, and cargo movement within the region.
