Northern Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh are poised for a significant upgrade in intercity rail connectivity as the new Vande Bharat Express between Gorakhpur and Patna is set to commence operations on June 20. The semi-high-speed service aims to substantially reduce travel time while enhancing passenger convenience across several cities along the route.
Railway officials confirmed that preparations for the launch are in the final stages, with work intensifying across all operational fronts. The new Vande Bharat service will feature eight coaches, which have already undergone detailed inspection, repairs, and cleaning ahead of the trial run. Once trials are successfully completed, the rake will be moved to Patna for the formal inauguration ceremony. The upcoming train service is not just a leap in travel efficiency but also an infrastructural boost for the northern part of the country. Running on the Gorakhpur–Bettiah–Narkatiaganj–Muzaffarpur–Patna corridor, the Vande Bharat is expected to connect major commercial and cultural centres, delivering an economic fillip to regions often underserved by rapid transit.
Officials indicated that the train will depart from Gorakhpur at 6 AM and return by 9:30 PM the same day.
