Odissa: Four wagons of a goods train derailed near Kantabanji station in the Sambalpur Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Friday night. The derailment, which occurred at approximately 10:50 PM, led to a complete disruption of train movement on both tracks.
According to an official statement, rail services were successfully restored by 7:00 AM on Saturday, minimising prolonged inconvenience to passengers and freight operations. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, offering some relief amidst the operational disruption.
Senior railway officials promptly arrived at the site to oversee the situation and initiate an investigation into the causes of the derailment. Â As a direct consequence of the derailment, ECoR announced the cancellation of two train services for Saturday. The affected trains are the Raipur-Titlagarh Express and the Junagarh Road-Raipur Express, both integral to the regional rail network. Passengers booked on these routes are advised to check for further updates and make alternative travel arrangements.
