Goa-based airline FLY91 has announced the launch of direct flights between Goa and Solapur, Maharashtra.
This new route aims to enhance accessibility to Solapur, a city renowned for its textile industry and as a gateway to several prominent pilgrimage sites. The introduction of the Goa–Solapur flight is part of FLY91’s broader strategy to connect tier II and III cities across India. Solapur marks the airline’s eighth destination, joining its existing network that includes Pune, Jalgaon, Sindhudurg, and others.
Solapur holds significant cultural and religious importance, serving as a hub for pilgrims visiting revered sites such as the Vitthal-Rukmini Temple in Pandharpur, Tulja Bhavani Temple in Tuljapur, Swami Samarth Maharaj Temple in Akkalkot, Sri Narasimha Saraswati Swami Math in Gangapur, and the Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga. The new direct flight from Goa is expected to facilitate easier access for devotees and tourists alike. An official from FLY91 emphasized the airline’s commitment to improving connectivity to traditionally underserved regions. They noted that Solapur is a key industrial centre and a critical part of Maharashtra’s pilgrimage circuit. The new route will facilitate easier travel for pilgrims, business, and leisure travellers.
FLY91 has acknowledged the support of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of Maharashtra, Director General of Civil Aviation, Airport Authority of India, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, and other stakeholders in expanding into Solapur. Based at Manohar International Airport in Goa, FLY91 currently connects regional centres such as Hyderabad and Pune with tier II and tier III destinations including Jalgaon, Sindhudurg, and Goa. The addition of Solapur to its network underscores the airline’s mission to enhance regional connectivity and support economic growth in underserved areas.
The launch of the Goa–Solapur route is anticipated to have a positive impact on local economies by boosting tourism and providing a reliable, time-efficient mode of transportation for residents and visitors. As FLY91 continues to expand its network, it plays a pivotal role in bridging the connectivity gap in India’s aviation landscape.
