GHMC Commences GIS-Driven Property Survey in Hyderabad

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has initiated a comprehensive ground survey to collect detailed property and ownership information across the city. This endeavour, conducted in conjunction with Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, aims to create an accurate and transparent database of all properties within Greater Hyderabad. The survey commenced on Tuesday, initially covering areas such as Uppal, Hayatnagar, Hyderanagar, Kukatpally, KPHB Colony, Miyapur, and Chandanagar.

The primary objective of this initiative is to map and geo-reference every property and utility in the city, ensuring that property data is both transparent and easily accessible. By integrating GIS technology with on-ground data collection, GHMC seeks to provide residents with a clear understanding of their property tax obligations. The initiative will also facilitate a streamlined and user-friendly online payment system, making it easier for citizens to fulfil their tax duties.

The GIS data collection involves the use of drone technology, complemented by a detailed ground survey. Field surveyors have been deployed to gather critical information, including building permissions, occupancy details, the latest property tax receipts, water and electricity bills, and owner identification documents. For commercial properties, the survey will also record trade licence numbers. This comprehensive data collection process aims to ensure accurate property assessments and improve urban management.

GHMC has appealed to all residents and property owners in the city to cooperate with the surveyors and provide the necessary information. The corporation assures that all data collected will be treated with the highest level of confidentiality and will be used exclusively for enhancing urban management and development. This project underscores GHMC’s commitment to improving service delivery and resource management, thereby contributing to the city’s overall growth and development.

By establishing a robust GIS-based property database, GHMC aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in property tax collection and urban planning. This initiative is expected to streamline administrative processes, reduce discrepancies in property assessments, and provide citizens with a more transparent and efficient system. As the survey progresses, it will play a crucial role in shaping Hyderabad’s urban landscape, paving the way for a more organised and well-managed city.
