GHMC Begins Multi-Level Flyover Projects in Hyderabad
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has started work on building multi-level flyovers to ease traffic congestion in key areas of the city. These projects are part of the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) initiative, which aims to improve urban mobility and reduce travel time for commuters. Two major locations, the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Junction and Khajaguda Junction, have been identified for these flyovers. The IIIT Junction flyover is the most expensive project, with a budget of ₹459 crore.
It will include a multi-level flyover and a grade separator to streamline traffic movement. Additionally, the road from one of the major commissionerates to Gachibowli Junction will be widened, and a new 150-foot road will connect Anjaiah Nagar to Ramky Tower.
At Khajaguda Junction, GHMC plans to construct a three-lane flyover from one major locality to another and a three-lane underpass to improve connectivity. These projects, estimated at ₹650 crore, aim to reduce traffic bottlenecks and enhance road infrastructure.
GHMC has invited bids from construction agencies for surveying, designing, and building these flyovers. These infrastructure projects are expected to increase road capacity, ease congestion, and provide a smoother commuting experience for Hyderabad residents.
Previously, a traffic study conducted by the urban development authorities identified critical congestion points in the city. Based on these findings, the government is investing in large-scale road projects to ensure better traffic flow and urban growth.
