GE T&D India has clinched a significant Rs490 crore contract from Power Grid Corporation for the deployment of SCADA systems, marking a pivotal advancement in bolstering India’s power transmission infrastructure.
SCADA, or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, plays a critical role in monitoring and managing the power system’s operations. This on-premise solution operates through a centralized control centre, facilitating real-time adjustments, coordinating movements, and fortifying defenses against external events. According to an exchange filing, GE T&D India aims to complete the supply, erection, and commissioning of the SCADA project by January 2026. The order value excludes GST, which stands at 18% and will be applied accordingly. Earlier this month, GE T&D India secured a related €64 million order from Grid Solutions SAS, France, focusing on high-voltage product supply and supervision over a two-year timeline. Additionally, an order worth €26 million was placed by Grid Solutions Middle East FZE, Dubai, reinforcing the company’s strategic engagements in the global market.
As of July 15, 2024, GE T&D India Ltd’s stock closed at Rs1680, marking a marginal increase of 0.10% from the previous close. Over the past year, the stock has surged by an impressive 573%, reflecting robust investor confidence in the company’s growth trajectory and operational efficiency. GE T&D India, part of GE’s Grid Solutions business in India, boasts over a century of experience in the power transmission and distribution sector. The company’s expansive product portfolio spans from medium voltage to ultra-high voltage solutions (up to 1200 kV), encompassing power transformers, circuit breakers, gas insulated switchgears, and substation automation equipment.
