Gaya Receives Rs 1000 Crore Boost for Infrastructure and Development Projects
Bihar’s Gaya district is set to receive a significant development boost with an infusion of Rs 1,437 crore for various infrastructure projects aimed at improving the region’s connectivity, educational facilities, and overall development. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, during his Pragati Yatra, inaugurated 898 schemes and laid the foundation for 816 additional schemes that will enhance the district’s infrastructure, making it an attractive place for future growth and development.
One of the key highlights of this development push is the establishment of a new degree college in Imamganj. This project aims to improve access to higher education in a region that has long been underdeveloped in terms of educational infrastructure. By providing students in Imamganj and surrounding areas with a local option for higher education, the initiative is expected to reduce the burden of students having to travel to distant towns and cities, making education more accessible and affordable.
In addition to educational advancements, the CM announced 13 new schemes designed to tackle traffic congestion and improve the overall transportation infrastructure in the region. Among these projects is the construction of a railway overbridge (ROB) at the Bageshwari railway crossing, which has long been a bottleneck for traffic in the area. The overbridge is expected to alleviate traffic snarls and ensure smoother movement, particularly for commuters travelling between Gaya and other parts of the state. The announcement also includes the construction of flyovers near critical locations like Ghughritand and Mufassil Mor, two spots known for their heavy traffic. These flyovers will significantly ease congestion and shorten travel time for both locals and visitors. Furthermore, the widening of key roads connecting Gaya to neighbouring Aurangabad district and Jharkhand is another critical element of the planned upgrades. These road developments are expected to improve connectivity between Gaya and other parts of Bihar, as well as with the neighbouring state of Jharkhand, fostering better trade and regional cooperation.
In addition to these initiatives, the CM unveiled plans for the construction of the Kothi Beer Dam, which will be located on the Morhar River and will provide much-needed water resources for the region. The Kothi-Salaiya road will also be widened, connecting Gaya to Jharkhand and improving access to this vital area. The CM’s announcement has sparked hope among the residents of Gaya, as the new schemes promise to address many longstanding issues related to education, infrastructure, and transportation. By improving local roads and creating new educational opportunities, the development is expected to have a direct and positive impact on the daily lives of the people in the region.
Nitish Kumar, who has been leading Bihar’s development efforts for several years, emphasised his commitment to ensuring the growth of the state under the guidance of the BJP. Reflecting on his political journey, he recalled the moment in 2005 when Atal Bihari Vajpayee appointed him as Chief Minister. Kumar reiterated his allegiance to the BJP, stating that despite some political shifts in the past, he remains firmly committed to advancing Bihar’s development with the party’s support. As Gaya embarks on this ambitious development journey, the people of the district are optimistic about the future. The Rs 1000 crore investment into infrastructure, education, and connectivity holds the potential to transform the district, making it a key hub for economic activity in Bihar.
