Gatishakti, Logistics Policy Drive Logistics Revolution

Gatishakti masterplan is a technological marvel that harnesses over 450 data layers to maximise connectivity while minimising ecological impact, thereby supporting sustainable growth.

The threefold objectives set within the National Logistics Policy, emphasising India’s ambition to achieve international competitiveness by 2030, secure a position among the top 25 on the Logistics Performance Index, and promote data-driven decision-making for infrastructure and logistics development. There has been rapid implementation of the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (Ulip) since the introduction of the National Logistics Policy. All seven concerned ministries, including Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Civil Aviation, Road Transport and Highways, Commerce and Industry, Railways, Finance, and Electronics and Information Technology, have embraced Ulip with a unified sign-on approach.

Ulip is a critical component of the digital framework within the NLP. The e-commerce’s rapid growth has significantly impacted the logistics industry, leading to increased demand for international goods and MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) selling internationally. The green logistics technology includes climate measurement tools, real-time data gathering, electric vehicles, green cold chain solutions, electric cargo delivery drones and logistics resource management platforms. These technologies offer benefits such as waste reduction, streamlined processes, improved competitiveness and eco-friendliness. There is rising demand for logistics in the Indian economy, and the need to accelerate infrastructure development and provide infrastructure ahead of demand to address the changing dynamics of the logistics sector is crucial.
