Prime Minister Narendra Modi, recently inaugurated the new state-of-the-art Parliament of India, showcasing an array of cutting-edge technologies that promise to revolutionise the functioning of the legislative body. Equipped with futuristic advancements ranging from digital screens to AI-based translation, the modern political structure aims to enhance communication, efficiency and transparency within the parliamentary proceedings.
One notable feature of the new Parliament is its digital translation capabilities, enabling members to listen to and read proceedings in multiple languages through AI-powered translation. The Digital Sansad app, a paperless platform, employs AI to transcribe the House’s activities in real-time. This innovative solution facilitates seamless communication between MPs, government officials, citizens and other stakeholders.
Programmable microphones within the Parliament chambers will allow MPs to control volume, ensuring their words are audible throughout the chamber. Emphasising the shift towards paperless operations, a video on the Prime Minister’s official YouTube channel highlights the Parliament’s reliance on digital documents for day-to-day operations.
Wi-Fi-connected tablets installed in the Parliament enable real-time input and information display for MPs, further reducing reliance on physical paperwork. The new building also incorporates biometric authentication systems to enhance security and streamline access control. Digital systems have been integrated into both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for seamless voting processes.
The Parliament’s multi-media display units facilitate the telecast of voting results and live streaming of proceedings. The official YouTube video offers a sneak peek into the automated camera systems deployed throughout the political campus, alongside a central command centre for technical controls. .
