The Gujarat government has imposed a temporary ban on the use of firecrackers and drones at all events and functions across the state until May 15.
This measure aims to mitigate potential risks and maintain public safety during a period of heightened alert. The decision follows a series of drone incursions and ceasefire violations along the western border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army successfully repelled these attacks, which included the use of drones and other munitions, as part of an escalation that also saw widespread ceasefire violations.
To counter these threats, the Indian Army and Air Force effectively utilized the indigenously developed Akash surface-to-air missile defense system. This system played a crucial role in thwarting multiple Pakistani drone attacks targeting Indian assets along the western border and LoC. The Akash missile system, with a range of 25–40 km, is designed to engage multiple targets simultaneously and has been instrumental in protecting Indian cities and military installations from aerial threats.
In addition to military measures, the Gujarat government has launched a crackdown on fake news and misinformation, urging citizens to disregard rumours and fabricated messages. Only verified updates from the district administration should be considered reliable The situation remains fluid, with both India and Pakistan trading accusations over recent attacks. India has accused Pakistan of launching drone and missile attacks on its military bases, while Pakistan claims to have downed multiple Indian drones over its territory.
As tensions continue to rise, the Gujarat government’s proactive measures aim to ensure public safety and prevent any potential escalation within the state. Residents are urged to cooperate with authorities and adhere to the guidelines in place until the situation stabilizes.
