As electric vehicle (EV) sales surge, innovative startups are addressing the
challenge of limited charging infrastructure by offering on-demand, doorstep fast-
charging solutions. One such company, Gurgaon-based Hopcharge, has gained
prominence by providing convenient EV fast charging services directly to
customers’ locations.
India faces a significant shortage of EV charging points, with one available for
every 164 EVs, in stark contrast to the global average of 15.9 EVs per charging
point. In response to this challenge, several start-ups, including Hopcharge, Mobec,
and GoFuel, are introducing door-to-door fast-charging services and innovative
charging solutions.
Mobec, based in Noida, recently launched its door-to-door charging service for
beta users and is developing a mobile fast-charging station tailored for commercial parking spaces. The company secured $1 million in funding from Singapore-based
firm Purple Stone Consulting. Similarly, GoFuel, known for its pan-India doorstep
diesel delivery service, is in the final stages of research and development for its
door-to-door EV charging services.
Hopcharge offers a compelling solution for EV owners who lack home charging
installations or face challenges accessing public charging infrastructure. Once a
slot is booked through the Hopcharge app, customers can count on getting their EV
charged within 45 minutes of the charging van’s arrival.
Hopcharge offers various subscription plans, ranging from INR 4,499 per year to
INR 49,900 per year, catering to different charging needs. The premium
Hopcharge ‘Z’ plan allows subscribers to fast charge their EVs up to 80 percent
capacity 210 times a year.
