In a bid to enhance passenger experience and ensure regulatory compliance, the Pune Metro has introduced a series of updates to its ticketing system.

Through official announcements made via its communication channels, the Pune Metro detailed the revised guidelines, effective from March 27, aimed at streamlining the ticketing process and promoting adherence to regulations. Under the new guidelines, passengers are required to complete their metro journey within 90 minutes from the time of ticket purchase to reaching their destination. Failure to adhere to this time limit will result in penalty charges ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 50 per hour. Additionally, commuters traveling without a valid ticket will face a fine of Rs 85, while attempting to enter or exit the metro premises illegally will incur the same penalty. To incentivise the use of digital ticketing methods, passengers with E-Tickets and Pune Cards will enjoy a 10% discount on weekdays and a further 30% discount on weekends. This initiative not only promotes convenience but also encourages the adoption of cashless transactions for metro travel.

In a significant move to make public transportation more accessible to students, the Pune Metro has introduced a 30% discount on metro tickets for school, college, and graduate-level students. To avail of this discount, students must present a valid student ID or bona fide card, thereby ensuring compliance with eligibility criteria. These updates reflect Pune Metro’s commitment to enhancing passenger convenience, ensuring fare compliance, and fostering a more inclusive transportation system. By offering discounts for digital transactions and prioritising student accessibility, the Pune Metro aims to attract more commuters while promoting sustainable and efficient urban mobility solutions. The implementation of these revised guidelines underscores Pune Metro’s proactive approach to addressing commuter needs and aligning with evolving industry standards. As the city’s metro network continues to expand, these initiatives are poised to contribute positively to Pune’s urban transportation landscape, setting a precedent for other metro systems in the country.
