Emergency Trains Connect Jammu and Delhi

Indian Railways has initiated several special train services between Jammu and Delhi to facilitate the safe and timely movement of passengers.

These measures come in the wake of significant disruptions to air travel and the implementation of emergency protocols across northern India. Following the launch of Operation Sindoor on 7 May 2025, which targeted militant camps in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, both nations have reported casualties and infrastructure damage. In retaliation, Pakistan’s artillery fire has resulted in civilian casualties in India, further exacerbating the situation. Consequently, over 25 airports in northern India, including those in Jammu and Kashmir, have been closed until at least 10 May 2025, leading to the cancellation of numerous flights .

To alleviate the strain on transportation and provide an alternative to air travel, Indian Railways has introduced special train services. Train No. 04612 is scheduled to depart from Jammu at 10:45 AM, featuring a mix of reserved and unreserved coaches. Additionally, a special Vande Bharat Express with 20 coaches will depart from Udhampur at 12:45 PM, passing through Jammu and Pathankot Cantonment. A third special train, comprising 22 LHB coaches, is planned to depart from Jammu around 7:00 PM . However, it’s important to note that train services have also been affected by the current situation. Several trains have been cancelled or rescheduled due to security concerns and operational challenges. For instance, Train No. 14895 (Bhagat Ki Kothi-Barmer) and Train No. 04880 (Munabao-Barmer) are among those cancelled on 9 May 2025

Passengers are advised to check the latest updates from official railway sources and remain vigilant during their travels. The introduction of these special trains underscores Indian Railways’ commitment to ensuring passenger safety and maintaining connectivity during times of national crisis.
