The inaugural point, situated at FACT Junction, marks the commencement of an ambitious campaign aimed at fostering community engagement and environmental stewardship. Envisioned as interactive hubs, these selfie points seamlessly blend artistry and advocacy. Local artists, carefully selected by municipal authorities, have lent their talents to adorn these spaces with vibrant paintings that convey pertinent messages on hygiene and waste management. “We need more youths to be ambassadors of the cleanliness campaigns of the municipality and to make them aware of the importance of cleaner surrounding such activities will be beneficial,” said municipality chairperson A D Sujil.

Since its inception in March, this initiative has gained momentum, with Eloor Municipality collaborating closely with the District Suchitwa Mission to revitalise public spaces. Propelled by a joint allocation of Rs 50 lakh, the endeavour has seen the deployment of 30 informational boards across strategic locations, amplifying the message of cleanliness and civic responsibility. Looking ahead, Eloor Municipality remains steadfast in its commitment to expand this innovative campaign, with plans underway to establish similar selfie points at key locales within the municipality by month’s end. By harnessing the power of art and technology, the municipality endeavours to instil a culture of environmental consciousness and community participation, setting a precedent for sustainable urban development across the region.
