DMRC Alerts Passengers About Red Line Delays
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued an alert regarding service disruptions on the Red Line, particularly affecting the stretch between Shahdara and Seelampur. The disruption, announced on 13th March, has caused inconvenience for daily commuters relying on this corridor for seamless connectivity. However, DMRC assured passengers that metro services on all other lines continue to operate without any hindrance.
The announcement was made through the official DMRC handle on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), informing the public about the delay. While the reason behind the service disruption remains undisclosed, the notification has prompted commuters to anticipate longer travel times and explore alternative routes. In another key update, DMRC has released revised metro service timings for Holi 2025. The metro network will remain non-operational until 2:30 PM on 14th March, deviating from the standard early morning schedule. Trains will commence operations from terminal stations post-2:30 PM and will continue running as per regular service hours.
This temporary suspension applies to all metro corridors, including the Airport Express Line, impacting thousands of commuters planning their travel around the festival celebrations. Meanwhile, DMRC has also made progress on its Phase 4 expansion, announcing the successful completion of tunneling for the Golden Line’s Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor between Kishangarh and Vasant Kunj stations. A 91-metre-long tunnel boring machine (TBM) completed excavation work for a 1,550-metre tunnel, marking a crucial milestone in the project. The second parallel tunnel is expected to be finished by June. The overall expansion plan includes the construction of 40.109 km of underground metro lines, of which 19.343 km belong to the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor.
While DMRC continues to enhance metro connectivity with large-scale infrastructure projects, temporary service disruptions such as the one on the Red Line underscore the challenges of maintaining seamless urban transit in a rapidly growing metropolitan region. With increasing reliance on public transport, ensuring minimal service interruptions remains a priority for both authorities and commuters.
