The Patna Metro Rail Project, Shri Daljeet Singh, Advisor (Special Works) at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), conducted a comprehensive inspection of various construction sites. The inspection, aimed at accelerating construction activities and ensuring pre-monsoon preparedness, saw Shri Singh visiting key sites including Malahi Pakadi, Cut and Cover, Bhootnath Road, ISBT Depot, Bihar Museum, Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, and Moin Ul Haq Stadium Metro Station.
During the inspection, Shri Singh closely examined the ongoing civil, electrical, and track-related works, issuing directives to expedite progress at all sites before the onset of the monsoon. He highlighted the urgency of resolving encroachment issues at the Malahi Pakadi site and completing the pending pier work without further delay.
A significant focus was placed on ground development work at Bhootnath, Zero Mile, and ISBT Depot Metro Stations. Shri Singh instructed officials to ensure the repair of footpaths around these sites and the construction of access ramps for lifts. He also emphasised the importance of completing entry and exit points, as well as the finishing work at all stations, to facilitate smooth commuting for the public.
Coordination with the Road Construction Department (RCD) on the Badshahi drain near ISBT Depot was directed to expedite the ongoing Metro construction work. Additionally, the construction agency was tasked with installing proper lighting arrangements in the depot, including high mast lights, and to complete the RSS work promptly.
The contractor responsible for the Bihar Museum site was instructed to finish the roof slab construction before the monsoon begins. The adjacent road to the Akashvani Metro Station site is to be repaired to ensure smooth commuting for the public.
At PMCH, Shri Singh directed that Metro construction areas be properly barricaded and entry and exit points clearly marked. At Patna University, he inspected the setup of TBM-1 and instructed the re-launch of TBM-2 and commencement of mining work before the monsoon.
Shri Singh underscored the Metro’s commitment to minimising inconvenience while ensuring quality work and safety for citizens around construction sites. He mandated the repair of footpaths and roads around Metro sites to avoid public inconvenience. Further, he directed DMRC officials to ensure contractor compliance in removing encroachments from narrow routes parallel to construction sites and arranging parallel roads to alleviate traffic jams. Cleanliness and provision of zebra crossings at places where routes change due to construction were also emphasised.
Besides overseeing construction progress, Shri Singh assessed the facilities available on-site for Metro staff and workers, including bathrooms, rest areas, and canteens, ensuring a conducive working environment.
The Patna Metro project is crucial for enhancing urban mobility, and these measures are expected to significantly advance its progress, aligning with the timelines and ensuring minimal disruption to the city’s daily life.
