Diwali Rush: Central Railway Announces Special Trains

The festive season in India is synonymous with travel, with millions returning home to celebrate Diwali and Chhath Puja with loved ones. To cater to this surge in passenger demand, the Central Railway has announced a slew of special trains, aiming to make travel during the festive period smoother and more convenient.

In a move that will benefit travellers between Mumbai, the financial capital, and Jaipur, the “Pink City,” the Central Railway will be operating one-way superfast special trains on September 27th and 28th, 2024. This caters directly to the significant traffic flow observed during the festive season. The train (01099) will depart from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai at a convenient time of 11:30 AM on both days, reaching Jaipur the following day at 8:45 AM. Passengers can avail comfortable travel options with the train offering AC 3-Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class coaches.

Furthermore, to address the anticipated rush for Diwali and Chhath, the Central Railway has announced additional trips for existing routes. Passengers travelling between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Mumbai and Danapur in Bihar can rejoice with the addition of 42 trips on the popular 01143/01144 LTT Mumbai-Danapur Daily Special Train. Similarly, those seeking to travel to Asansol in West Bengal from CSMT, Mumbai, will benefit from the addition of eight trips on the 01145/01146 CSMT Mumbai-Asansol Weekly Special Train.

The Central Railway’s initiative demonstrates a proactive approach to managing passenger demand during the festive season. This not only eases travel woes for individuals but also plays a crucial role in boosting the regional economy. The additional trains provide much-needed capacity, allowing families to reunite and celebrate the festive spirit together. This strategic move by the Central Railway is likely to be well-received by passengers, particularly those who haven’t been able to secure confirmed tickets on regular trains. The announcement comes at an opportune time, allowing travellers to plan their journeys in advance and secure their seats.
