Devanahalli Gets IHCL SeleQtions Property

India’s hospitality sector continues to see expansion momentum, with The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) signing its first SeleQtions-branded hotel in Bengaluru, while Sarovar Hotels announced two new openings in Jaipur and Mathura.

IHCL has signed a 115-key hotel under its SeleQtions brand in Devanahalli, near Kempegowda International Airport. The project involves the conversion of an existing standalone resort, with plans to scale up inventory to 120 keys. The SeleQtions portfolio is positioned as a curated collection of distinctive hotels offering experience-led stays. The Devanahalli micro-market has emerged as a hospitality and infrastructure hub, supported by airport-driven demand, improving road connectivity and proposed commercial developments. With this addition, IHCL’s Bengaluru portfolio will expand to 20 hotels, including 11 under development, reinforcing its strategy of deepening presence in high-growth urban centres through a mix of greenfield projects and conversions. IHCL is partnering with BABA Developers for the project. Company executives indicated that the signing aligns with rising corporate, technology and leisure travel demand in Bengaluru, one of India’s strongest lodging markets. In a parallel expansion, Sarovar Hotels has strengthened its footprint in north India with the launch of the 90-key Golden Tulip Kukas Jaipur and the 70-key Skywings Sarovar Portico Mathura.

Jaipur, a key tourism and wedding destination, continues to attract strong domestic and international footfall due to its heritage appeal. Mathura, meanwhile, remains a major pilgrimage centre with year-round visitor inflows. Sarovar’s management said the twin openings reflect its strategy of targeting culturally significant destinations supported by diversified demand drivers including leisure, religious tourism and social events. Sarovar Hotels currently operates 150 hotels across 87 destinations spanning India, Nepal and Africa, signalling steady expansion beyond tier-I metros into tier-II and pilgrimage-driven markets. Industry observers note that India’s hospitality sector is benefiting from a confluence of tailwinds robust domestic tourism, recovery in corporate travel, infrastructure upgrades and rising demand for destination weddings and experiential stays. Airport-linked micro-markets such as Devanahalli are increasingly attracting branded hotel developments as operators anticipate sustained business and transit demand.

Together, IHCL’s entry of SeleQtions into Bengaluru and Sarovar’s expansion in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh underscore the sector’s broad-based growth, with operators diversifying portfolios across metros, emerging urban hubs and culturally rich destinations.
