Delhi Village to Get Cow Shelter and Om-Shaped School
In a move to preserve cultural heritage and boost rural development, Minister Parvesh Verma on Saturday unveiled plans for a state-of-the-art cow shelter and an Om-shaped school in Ghumanhera village, South West Delhi.
The cow shelter, estimated at Rs 47 crore, will accommodate up to 5,000 cows, making it one of the largest in the National Capital Region. Spread over 20 acres, the facility will feature solar energy systems, automated fodder dispensers, rainwater harvesting, and dedicated veterinary services, aiming to promote sustainable and hygienic cattle welfare. “This shelter will serve as a hub for organic farming, Gau-based industries, and rural entrepreneurship,” Verma said at a village gathering. He highlighted that the shelter will use cow by-products to support eco-friendly livelihoods through the production of manure and Panchgavya-based goods.
In parallel, the Minister performed the Bhoomi Pujan for an Om-shaped school, envisioned as a blend of modern education and Indian values. The unique design aims to symbolise knowledge and harmony, while the curriculum will focus on building students’ character and cultural identity. Verma emphasised that education and development must remain rooted in tradition. “This school will prepare children for the future with pride in their heritage,” he said.
Local residents welcomed the announcement, calling the twin projects a source of pride and opportunity. Many believe Ghumanhera will now stand as a model for culturally conscious rural progress.
