Delhi Releases Rs 1668 Crore Timely To Boost Local Civic Services
Delhi’s administration has demonstrated a renewed commitment to enhancing urban governance and civic amenities by releasing the second instalment of financial aid amounting to Rs 1,668.41 crore for the current fiscal year. This significant fund allocation, distributed among the city’s three primary local bodies, marks a decisive shift toward timely and transparent fiscal management aimed at strengthening the foundation for sustainable, equitable, and eco-friendly urban development.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) received the lion’s share with Rs 1,641.13 crore, reflecting its extensive role in managing the city’s sprawling infrastructure and sanitation requirements. Meanwhile, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and the Delhi Cantonment Board were allocated Rs 16.18 crore and Rs 11.09 crore respectively, ensuring that all urban administrative segments receive essential resources to maintain and enhance civic services.Officials highlighted that the funds released are pivotal in addressing pressing urban challenges such as waste management, water supply, green spaces, and sustainable infrastructure projects. By prioritising timely disbursal, the government aims to empower local bodies to implement projects that align with the city’s broader goals of carbon neutrality and gender-inclusive urban spaces.
This tranche follows the initial instalment of Rs 835 crore disbursed in June 2025, underscoring a consistent flow of funds which municipal authorities argue is crucial for uninterrupted service delivery.
