Delhi PWD Seeks Consultant for Elevated Corridor Feasibility Study

The Public Works Department (PWD) of Delhi has issued a tender for conducting a feasibility study for the proposed 6-kilometre elevated corridor connecting Sonia Vihar Pusta Road in Northeast Delhi to the Delhi-UP border near Tronica City. This initiative aims to alleviate severe traffic congestion in the area, which has been exacerbated by roadside encroachments, e-rickshaws, and pedestrian footfall.

The elevated corridor is part of a broader strategy to enhance connectivity between North Delhi and Ghaziabad, facilitating smoother transit for commuters and reducing travel time. The project is anticipated to cost approximately ₹500 crore, with the PWD overseeing its execution. A detailed project report (DPR) will be developed following the completion of the feasibility study. The proposed route passes through densely populated areas, including markets and residential zones, necessitating careful planning to mitigate environmental impact and address local concerns. Additionally, the alignment intersects with existing infrastructure, such as the Delhi Jal Board’s underground water pipeline, which will require coordination during the planning phase.

This project underscores the Delhi government’s commitment to improving urban infrastructure and addressing long-standing traffic issues in the trans-Yamuna region. Upon completion, the elevated corridor is expected to significantly enhance the daily commute for thousands of residents and contribute to the overall development of the area. As the feasibility study progresses, stakeholders, including local residents and businesses, will be engaged to ensure that the project aligns with community needs and environmental considerations. The PWD remains focused on delivering a sustainable and efficient solution to the region’s transportation challenges.
