Delhi Northern Railway Launches Mosquito Terminator Train to Curb Dengue
Delhi has initiated an innovative rail-based public health programme to combat vector-borne diseases. A specially-equipped train, dubbed the ‘Mosquito Terminator,’ has commenced operations to spray anti-larval chemicals along the extensive network of railway tracks that traverse the capital. This proactive and targeted approach is a crucial step towards building a more sustainable and equitable urban environment, as it directly addresses a key public health challenge, particularly in densely populated areas adjacent to the tracks, which are often prone to stagnant water and mosquito breeding.

The inaugural route of the train covered a key corridor from New Delhi railway station, and the programme is scheduled to complete multiple rounds across the National Capital Region (NCR) over the next six weeks. Beyond the train, the railway department has affirmed that it is also implementing complementary preventive measures within its own premises.
