Delhi Noida To Get 30 Km Expressway Linking Jewar Airport

Delhi-NCR is preparing for a significant infrastructure upgrade with the Centre approving a new 30-km expressway that will directly link Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and the upcoming Jewar International Airport. The project is expected to reshape regional mobility while supporting a vision of sustainable and inclusive growth for the capital’s extended urban zone.

Planned to run parallel to the existing Noida–Greater Noida Expressway, the new road will trace the Yamuna River’s path. It will connect the current Pushta Road with both the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway, creating a seamless network for travellers heading towards the new airport hub. Officials have confirmed that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will implement the project and ensure smooth financial backing. The expressway has been long demanded as traffic volumes in the region have grown faster than expected with the expansion of Noida and Greater Noida as residential, commercial and industrial corridors. Jewar International Airport, which is set to emerge as one of Asia’s largest aviation gateways, is projected to further increase the pressure on transport systems unless robust alternatives are introduced.

Experts have noted that while the expressway is primarily aimed at easing airport access, its benefits will extend to daily commuters, logistics companies and the regional economy. Improved connectivity is expected to reduce travel time, cut fuel use and ease congestion on existing arterial roads. This aligns with India’s climate commitments as lower idling traffic means reduced vehicular emissions, an essential component for building net-zero carbon cities.Planners are also highlighting the expressway’s potential for equitable urban development. By spreading traffic load and opening up new areas along its route, the road could stimulate balanced growth beyond traditional hotspots. Such decentralisation is seen as key to addressing urban inequality and avoiding the environmental degradation caused by over-concentration of development in narrow zones.

While the expressway offers optimism, experts caution that ecological sensitivity must remain at the core of design and execution. Running parallel to the Yamuna, the project must safeguard natural ecosystems and ensure that construction does not trigger further stress on the river basin. Authorities have assured that modern standards of green highways will be incorporated, including plantation drives and water conservation measures. With Jewar Airport on course to become an international hub, the new expressway is set to be more than a road link  it is being viewed as a blueprint for how urban India can grow with sustainability and inclusivity at its heart. For Delhi and Noida residents, it promises faster travel, cleaner air and a step towards a better-connected, future-ready city.
