Recent data analysis by Mahajan Imaging and Labs has unveiled a significant health concern in Delhi NCR: approximately one-third of thyroid tests conducted in the region over the past six months have yielded abnormal results. This trend highlights a pressing issue within the population and underscores the need for heightened awareness and proactive management of thyroid health.
The comprehensive analysis, based on 35,000 thyroid tests, reveals a notable gender disparity. Women represent 75% of those with abnormal thyroid results, while men account for the remaining 25%. This data indicates a male-to-female ratio of 1:3 concerning thyroid abnormalities, suggesting that women are disproportionately affected. The diagnostics firm emphasises the critical nature of these findings, pointing out that thyroid disorders often remain undiagnosed or are dismissed due to insufficient awareness. “This data highlights an escalating health issue that necessitates increased vigilance and proactive health measures,” said a spokesperson from Mahajan Imaging and Labs. “Routine testing is essential for individuals with a history of thyroid issues to monitor hormone levels and make necessary medication adjustments in a timely manner.”
Lab Director & Clinical Lead at Mahajan Imaging Labs, further noted, “Our findings indicate a worrying trend among young adults experiencing abnormal thyroid function. Many are not taking appropriate actions to address these issues. We strongly encourage individuals, especially those exhibiting symptoms or with a history of thyroid problems, to prioritise their thyroid health and seek regular evaluations.” This emerging trend calls for increased public education on thyroid health and the importance of regular testing, particularly given the high prevalence of abnormalities. Ensuring that individuals are aware of their thyroid health status and taking necessary preventative measures can significantly contribute to better overall health outcomes.
