Delhi Metro’s Phase I, II, and III Networks to Get AFC Technology from Aurionpro Solutions
Aurionpro Solutions, a leading technology firm, has secured a significant order from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to supply Automated Fare Collection (AFC) technology and manufactured solutions. This latest contract will see the company deliver automated gates, validators, and card readers for various operational sectors across DMRC’s Phase I, II, and III networks, as part of an ongoing effort to modernise the metro’s fare collection system.
The AFC gates and related technology will be fully manufactured in India at Aurionpro’s state-of-the-art facility in Ghaziabad. This aligns with the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative, which encourages domestic production and innovation. The project marks an important milestone for Aurionpro, which continues to expand its footprint in the Indian smart transit space.
Sanjay Bali, President & Global Head of Tech Innovation Group at Aurionpro Solutions, expressed his pride in partnering with DMRC, recognising the corporation as a leader in India’s urban transit systems. He stated, “We are honoured to partner with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, a pioneer and symbol of excellence in India’s urban transit systems. This prestigious project not only reinforces our growing presence and acceptance as a major player in the Indian smart transit space but also highlights our commitment to innovation and ‘Make in India’ through locally manufactured solutions.”
This contract with DMRC comes after a similar success in Chennai, where Aurionpro secured a contract to deliver AFC systems for Phase II of the Chennai Metro. These wins position Aurionpro as a prominent provider of transit technology in India, providing robust, indigenously developed solutions that enhance the operational efficiency of metro systems across the country. The ongoing upgrade of Delhi Metro’s Phase I and II networks, coupled with the expansion into Phase III, highlights the city’s commitment to modernising its infrastructure. The inclusion of advanced AFC technology will streamline passenger experiences, ensuring faster, more efficient fare collection while reducing queues and wait times. The installation of automated gates and card readers marks a shift towards international best practices seen in metros worldwide.
As the Delhi Metro network grows, it is adopting technologies from across the globe to stay competitive and improve service delivery. With Aurionpro’s solutions, these technologies are being indigenously developed, giving India a unique edge in the global transit space. The project also underlines the importance of supporting local manufacturing while adopting global standards for urban mobility. For Delhi Metro, this investment in state-of-the-art fare collection technology is more than just an upgrade; it is a critical step towards enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring a seamless experience for passengers. The move to automate fare collection is a key part of the metro’s strategy to improve accessibility and reduce operational delays, in line with international metro systems that utilise advanced automation to streamline services.
This contract represents a pivotal development for both Aurionpro Solutions and Delhi Metro, as they work together to deliver world-class transit solutions. With the expected improvements in automation and fare collection efficiency, Delhi’s metro system will remain at the forefront of urban transit in India. As the project moves forward, it is clear that Delhi Metro is making strides towards a more efficient and modern public transport network. The initiative to bring in top-notch technology for its Phase I, II, and III networks sets a standard for urban transit systems in India and beyond, reinforcing the importance of both innovation and local manufacturing in transforming cities.
