The India International Trade Fair (IITF) more accessible to commuters, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the sale of IITF tickets at 55 metro stations across the city. This initiative, which begins on November 14, aims to simplify the process for visitors attending the event at Pragati Maidan, offering both online and offline ticketing options for the first time.
The IITF, which runs from November 14 to 27, draws thousands of domestic and international visitors every year. Recognising the need for improved convenience, DMRC has made tickets available at key metro stations such as Shaheed Sthal, Dilshad Garden, and Rithala on the Red Line, as well as Samaypur Badli and Azadpur on the Yellow Line. The initiative is set to ease the burden of long queues and overcrowded counters, enabling people to book tickets seamlessly during their daily commutes. For the first time, visitors will also be able to purchase tickets through the official Delhi Metro app—DMRC Delhi Sarathi/DMRC Momentum 2.0. This digital convenience ensures that visitors can easily access tickets with QR codes, adding to the overall ease of travel. Online ticket sales began on November 11, with the app offering an exclusive feature allowing one user to purchase up to 10 tickets per day. Ticket prices for the IITF vary depending on the type of visitor. For business visitors between November 14-18, prices are set at ₹500 for adults and ₹200 for children. For general public days, ticket prices are more affordable, at ₹80 for adults and ₹40 for children. On weekends and holidays, the prices increase slightly to ₹150 for adults and ₹60 for children.
In addition to the ticketing services, DMRC has also introduced the option to book eight-seater golf carts for transportation within the Bharat Mandapam complex. These carts, available in two time slots (10 am to 2 pm and 3 pm to 7 pm), provide a unique mobility solution for visitors, especially seniors or those with young children. The push for both digital and offline ticketing systems reflects DMRC’s commitment to enhancing customer convenience. With extensive promotional efforts—such as announcements and QR code displays across stations—DMRC is working to ensure that visitors are well-informed about their options. From a sustainability perspective, DMRC’s new initiative reduces the need for additional transport infrastructure. The metro’s integration with the Trade Fair also limits the carbon footprint of individual visitors, encouraging them to use public transport rather than private vehicles. In a rapidly growing metropolis like Delhi, initiatives like these make it easier for people to engage with key events while promoting eco-friendly travel options. As Delhi Metro continues to innovate, it remains a model for efficient, sustainable urban mobility.
