Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced a strategic adjustment in service timings for several Phase-III sections on June 16, 2024, to accommodate candidates appearing for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Traditionally commencing operations at 8:00 AM on Sundays, these sections will now begin service two hours earlier, at 6:00 AM, exclusively for this day.
The decision aims to streamline transportation logistics and ensure timely access for aspirants traveling to various exam centers across Delhi and its adjoining regions. The affected Phase-III corridors include key lines such as Dilshad Garden-Shaheed Sthal, Noida City Centre-Noida Electronic City, Mundka-Brigadier Hoshiar Singh, Badarpur Border-Raja Nahar Singh (Ballabhgarh), Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar, Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden, and Dhansa Bus Stand-Dwarka.
In a statement issued by DMRC officials, the move underscores their commitment to facilitating a seamless experience for UPSC examinees. “Metro train services will commence at 6:00 AM on June 16, 2024, specifically adjusted to support candidates participating in the Civil Services (Prelim) Examination,” affirmed the corporation.
This initiative not only reflects DMRC’s operational flexibility but also highlights the critical role of public infrastructure in supporting national-level examinations. With thousands of candidates expected to utilize metro services for their commute, the early start is anticipated to alleviate congestion and ensure punctuality during what is a crucial day for aspirants.
The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, considered one of India’s most competitive tests, will see candidates from diverse backgrounds vying for prestigious administrative roles. By initiating services earlier, DMRC aims to contribute positively to the overall efficiency and comfort of candidates, minimizing potential stress associated with travel logistics on examination day.
Delhi Metro, renowned for its extensive network and operational efficiency, continues to play a pivotal role in urban mobility solutions across the National Capital Region (NCR). The decision to adjust timings for Phase-III sections underscores its adaptability in catering to evolving commuter needs, particularly during significant national events like the UPSC examinations.
