Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has officially announced that starting Monday, all weekday services on the Green Line will operate in two fixed loops: Brigadier Hoshiar Singh to Kirti Nagar and Mundka to Inderlok, mirroring the operational model used on the Blue Line. This structure replaces the previous model, where trains alternately turned back from terminal points at Brigadier Hoshiar Singh and Mundka before rerouting through either branch.
Under the new system, passengers journeying from Brigadier Hoshiar Singh to Inderlok must interchange at Ashok Park Main, while those going from Inderlok to Brigadier Hoshiar Singh will change trains at Rajdhani Park, streamlining cross-branch transfers. Earlier, some trains terminated at Mundka or Brigadier Hoshiar Singh before looping towards the alternate branch. The new fixed-loop approach capitalises on lessons from the Blue Line, which features a Y-shaped route between Yamuna Bank, Vaishali, and Noida Electronic City. This structure is expected to reduce confusion and improve headways.
A DMRC official explained that this decision follows commuter feedback and is designed to enhance “operational efficiency on weekdays,” offering passengers more seamless connectivity to both Inderlok and Kirti Nagar. The Green Line spans 28.8 km, connecting 24 stations from Inderlok to Brigadier Hoshiar Singh, with the Kirti Nagar branch serving as a key interchange to the Yellow Line. This change is timely, as the line continues to grow: the government approved a 12.3 km extension from Inderlok to Indraprastha—adding 10 stations—under Phase 4 in March 2024.
DMRC’s broader operational context includes a 394 km network and 289 stations across 12 metro lines, including Rapid Metro Gurgaon, Aqua Line, and Airport Express. Commuters have welcomed the update. Many expect reduced wait times, fewer crowds, and more reliable scheduling—especially during weekday rush hours. Urban mobility experts note that such operational refinements reflect Metro’s commitment to building equitable, journey‑centric transit systems, reducing urban reliance on road-based transport, and supporting Delhi’s sustainability goals.
