Delhi Lucknow Electric Bus Service Launches

India’s electric mobility push has taken another leap forward with NueGo launching its longest all-electric intercity bus service between Delhi and Lucknow. The route, which covers over 500 kilometres in approximately 10 hours, is now operational with fares starting at just INR 999. Operated by GreenCell Mobility, the service is designed to offer eco-conscious premium alternative to traditional diesel buses.

The zero-emission buses are engineered to run more than 250 km on a single charge while maintaining full air-conditioning in India’s traffic and climate conditions. As the country moves towards a zero net carbon future, NueGo’s Delhi-Lucknow route is a critical step in offering long-haul travel options that align with sustainable urban goals. With over 300 electric buses already running in more than 100 Indian cities, NueGo is positioning itself as a key player in the intercity transport ecosystem.

Each electric coach undergoes 25 mandatory mechanical and electrical checks before every journey. In addition to real-time GPS tracking, the buses come equipped with air-conditioned premium seating, onboard CCTV, charging ports, and emergency helplines. The service takes a gender-inclusive approach by reserving designated ‘Pink Seats’ for women travellers and implementing strict driver protocols, including breathalyser tests. Speed limits are capped at 80 km/h for added safety.

According to company officials, the goal is to ensure a seamless experience on par with air travel comfort, reinforced by access to airport-style lounges at select terminals. This service expansion follows the success of NueGo’s Kashmir-to-Kanyakumari e-mobility expedition, which tested and proved the endurance of electric buses across diverse Indian terrains.Passengers have praised the buses for their cleanliness, comfortable seating, and smooth rides, describing them as a game-changer for middle-distance travel.

The route also signals broader confidence in India’s evolving EV infrastructure, which is rapidly expanding along national highways and key transport corridors. This e-bus service not only improves commuter convenience but also advances the broader mission of reducing vehicular emissions and promoting sustainable transport.By targeting densely trafficked routes, electric buses help cities curb particulate emissions. GreenCell’s co‑founder noted that expanding e‑bus coverage could lower carbon footprints significantly, an increasingly urgent imperative in light of India’s climate commitments.

If NueGo maintains service quality and expands its footprint strategically, the Delhi-Lucknow route could emerge as a scalable model for climate-resilient, gender-neutral public mobility across urban India.
