Delhi Government Pushes For Faster Completion of Underpass Flyover To Ease Traffic

Delhi is witnessing a renewed push from its government for the rapid completion of a crucial infrastructure project aimed at alleviating persistent traffic bottlenecks. This initiative focuses on an underpass and a flyover at the intersection of Urban Extension Road-II UER-II and Gurgaon Jaipur Highway. This strategic development is expected to significantly ease congestion in west and outer Delhi, where lakhs of vehicles traverse daily, causing substantial time loss, fuel consumption, and increased air pollution.

The project, being constructed by the National Highways Authority of India NHAI, is located at a vital junction connecting Najafgarh Dwarka Rohini and National Highway 8. A state Public Works Department minister recently sought the speedy construction of these structures. During an inspection, the minister emphasized the need to review and rectify any errors or gaps in the ongoing construction, ensuring long term practical solutions for the citys residents. The underpass is specifically part of the UER-II project within the Dwarka Expressway section near IGI Airport.

Another state minister, from the Environment department, highlighted that such projects are not only crucial for decongesting traffic but also for improving Delhis air quality, which is significantly impacted by heavy vehicular movement. Both ministers stressed the importance of timely completion, technical accuracy, and citizen focused planning for the project’s success. Regular reviews will be conducted to ensure accountability at every stage. The intersection near Shiv Murti Chowk in Dwarka, a frequent choke point, is expected to receive major relief from these developments, benefiting both Delhi residents and those in neighboring NCR areas.

This concerted effort aims to provide enduring relief from Delhi’s long-standing traffic challenges. By accelerating the completion of this key infrastructure, the government seeks to enhance connectivity, reduce travel times, and contribute to a healthier urban environment. This initiative reflects a dedicated approach towards making the capital’s roads safer and more efficient for all commuters.
