Delhi Commuters Face Lane Closures On Siraspur and Shahbad Bawana Roads

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory on lane closures on key city arteries, including Siraspur Road and the Samaypur Badli underpass on Shahbad Bawana Road, to facilitate repair and maintenance work by the Public Works Department (PWD). The closures, effective until September 2, are expected to impact traffic flow significantly, particularly for vehicles moving from Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar towards Shahbad Dairy.

Officials noted that while one lane will remain operational, commuters should anticipate congestion due to restricted road capacity. Authorities emphasised that adherence to traffic regulations and cooperation with deployed personnel will be crucial for maintaining orderly movement and minimising delays.

The advisory also recommended the use of public transport where possible to reduce vehicular pressure on the affected routes. Commuters travelling to ISBT, the airport, or railway stations are advised to allow extra travel time, particularly during peak hours, as traffic bottlenecks are likely until the maintenance work is completed. The maintenance includes emergency repairs on the L-XING No. 10 SPL section on Huk-Bhd, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure road safety and infrastructure reliability. Delhi Traffic Police has stressed that these interventions, while temporarily inconvenient, are vital for long-term improvements in commuter safety and road efficiency.

Real-time traffic updates will be available through the official Delhi Traffic Police website, social media channels, and WhatsApp helpline. Commuters are encouraged to leverage these platforms for timely information and alternative route suggestions to avoid unnecessary delays. Experts pointed out that systematic road maintenance and lane management are key strategies for urban mobility in a rapidly growing metropolis like Delhi. By scheduling repairs with partial lane closures and public advisories, authorities aim to balance essential infrastructure upgrades with continued commuter movement.

Officials highlighted that continuous monitoring, deployment of traffic personnel, and strategic signage are being used to manage peak-hour congestion. Additionally, ongoing maintenance initiatives are designed with sustainability and safety considerations in mind, aiming to reduce the risk of accidents and ensure equitable access for all vehicle types. While the temporary inconvenience may cause frustration, long-term benefits include improved road conditions, smoother traffic flow, and safer commutes. Authorities reiterated that the maintenance is part of a broader plan to enhance city transport infrastructure while maintaining compliance with environmental and safety standards.
