DDA to Introduce App for Effective Issue Resolution

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to develop a dedicated mobile application for its Special Task Force (STF) to enhance the efficiency of addressing grievances, particularly concerning illegal constructions. This initiative aims to overcome the delays associated with the current centralised complaint management system, which relies on the 311 app and DDA’s portal for handling various complaints.

An official from the DDA disclosed that the new app would streamline the complaint management process, enabling swift action against unauthorised constructions. “We have invited quotations for the development of the app on both Android and iOS platforms. The development will commence once an agency is finalised, with the app expected to be operational within two months,” the official stated. The STF, overseen by the Supreme Court, is a specialised unit focusing on monitoring grievances related to land encroachment by individuals or entities.

The DDA has already implemented a web-enabled software system to monitor grievances submitted online or physically. This software forwards complaints to the relevant nodal officers and then to the grid officers for necessary action. The proposed app will further enhance this process by allowing users to register, create a user ID, and submit grievances, complete with area details and descriptions. Users will also be able to track the status of their complaints in real-time.

The nodal officers will have access to a comprehensive dashboard displaying the total number of grievances, alongside counts of those pending, under process, finalised, and closed. They will have the ability to forward complaints to the grid officers or other organisations and can mark irrelevant grievances with a “no action required” status, providing remarks as needed. Additionally, the grid officers will have the capability to search and receive updates on grievances that have been transferred more than three times, ensuring further action is taken if necessary.

This new initiative by the DDA aims to provide a more transparent and efficient platform for citizens to report and resolve issues related to illegal constructions, reflecting a significant step forward in the authority’s efforts to maintain urban planning and regulation. By leveraging technology, the DDA seeks to improve the overall responsiveness and accountability of its grievance redressal mechanisms.
