According to CRRC’s latest report on carbon footprint, these new energy locomotives demonstrate remarkable environmental benefits. The power battery locomotives, when operating under standard conditions with green electricity, reduce carbon emissions by an impressive 94.2%. This reduction is equivalent to mitigating carbon emissions by 4,076 tons annually, which is akin to the carbon dioxide absorption capacity of 1 million trees spanning 200 hectares of forest. Similarly, the diesel engine + power battery locomotives exhibit a 61.7% reduction in carbon footprint during operation, translating to a decrease of 2,735 tons in carbon emissions.
