Cochin Airport Reports 31.6% Income Growth

Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has marked a significant achievement by surpassing the ₹1,000 crore revenue threshold for the fiscal year 2023-24. The airport reported an impressive 31.6% increase in total income, reaching ₹1,014.21 crore compared to ₹770.91 crore in the previous year. This surge underscores the robust performance and expanding economic footprint of one of India’s busiest airports.

In addition to the revenue growth, CIAL witnessed a substantial rise in its profit before tax, which soared by 54.6% to ₹552.37 crore from ₹357.30 crore in the previous fiscal year. This remarkable financial performance highlights the airport’s successful operational strategies and its role as a critical hub in India’s aviation sector. CIAL, known for being the first greenfield airport constructed under a public-private partnership model, is now setting its sights on further expansion. The airport has announced plans to significantly enhance its infrastructure with an estimated ₹560 crore investment for expanding the international terminal. Furthermore, it intends to develop a commercial zone at a cost of ₹162 crore and extend the domestic terminal to accommodate increasing passenger volumes.

In a recent development, Kerala’s Chief Minister inaugurated Aero Lounge 0484, a new 50,000-square-foot facility designed to offer a range of high-quality services and amenities to passengers. Positioned as the largest lounge of its kind at Indian airports, it is expected to elevate the passenger experience by providing both luxury and affordability. Currently, Cochin International Airport manages over 10 million passengers annually and operates a substantial number of flights—670 weekly to international destinations and 795 to domestic cities. The airport’s extensive connectivity now ensures that most Indian cities are directly linked to Kochi, cementing its status as a vital transportation hub.
