Assam Chief Minister met Union Coal and Mines Minister at Shastri Bhawan on Tuesday to deliberate on key issues concerning the coal and mining sector in the state.
The high-level meeting focused on facilitating coal linkage for Assam’s upcoming thermal power projects and strengthening coordination for the execution of renewable energy initiatives. Discussions also touched upon improving the overall energy and industrial infrastructure of the state to meet growing power demands. A critical point of the discussion was the support required by NIRL Assam Renewable Limited (NARL) to implement renewable energy projects in the region. Both leaders stressed the need to bolster Assam’s coal supply chain to ensure energy security and timely infrastructure development.
The Ministry of Coal assured the Assam government of its full cooperation and reiterated its commitment to supporting the timely execution of projects. The meeting is expected to enhance the coordination between the central and state governments in addressing Assam’s long-term energy needs through both conventional and renewable sources.
The dialogue comes at a time when Assam is working to balance its energy portfolio with a mix of fossil fuels and clean energy, positioning itself as a growing industrial and energy hub in the Northeast.
